A special letter from the KMA Board of Directors

 Dear KMA Community,

In recent weeks, we have been reminded of how Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) have long been affected by deep systemic racism and injustice. This is a narrative that has plagued our nation for far too long.

At KMA, inclusivity is central to what we do. In fact, inclusivity was the original inspiration for Keoni Movement Arts. In the 1990s, our founder, Paul Keoni Chun, worked with BIPOC youth at a New York City YMCA where he noticed deep inequitable access to the sport of gymnastics for these populations. Paul was inspired to do more for these underrepresented populations. Drawing on the Hawaiian values he grew up with, he poured this passion into founding Keoni Movement Arts. Twelve years later, KMA continues to prioritize inclusivity and diversity in all facets of our organization and taps into the Spirit of Aloha to ensure that we are all living and treating each other with love and respect.

In our steadfast commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and diversity, we continue to keep a critical eye on our practices and policies as we all work toward a more equitable world. We appreciate your support and partnership on a journey to a more compassionate global community.

All our best,
KMA Board of Directors

E Aloha Kekahi i Kekahi
