Creative Learning Dance Project, 2022

For Teens, Adults and Seniors with Special Needs and Disabilities

December 7, 2022 - February 24, 2023

Join us for a 10-week series of in-person movement arts classes! Adapting ballet, modern, jazz, and Broadway dance language with yoga and gymnastics principles, we work together in nurturing and expanding upon students' capabilities -- while providing joy and human connection through the arts and public performance!

This program is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis. For everyone's safety and wellbeing, sessions are limited in size. Pay-What-You-Can with Free option available (see below).

Who should sign up: Teens and Young Adults with Special Needs, Adults, and Seniors with Disabilities. Ages 13 and over are welcome.

3 weekly sections to choose from:

  • Wednesdays, 5 - 7 PM, December 7, 2022 - February 22, 2023. Target: Teens and young adults with special needs. Enrollment limit: 8 individuals.

  • Fridays, 12 - 1:30 PM, December 9, 2022 - February 24, 2023. Target: Seniors and adults with disabilities. Enrollment limit: 12 individuals.

  • Fridays, 5 - 7 PM, December 9, 2022 - February 24, 2023. Target: Teens and young adults with special needs. Enrollment limit: 8 individuals.

Other Project Details: each section will meet for 10 contact sessions. The project concludes with a public presentation where participants will demonstrate the dance skills they’ve learned and the choreography they helped create. Family, friends, and KMA supporters will be invited. Participants are encouraged to attend all 10 sessions, however attending on a drop-in basis is allowed. There will be breaks for the holidays. Please check KMA’s calendar to see the dates when each contact session is scheduled for. Ages 13 and over are welcome.

Location: Clinton Cameo Studios, 307 West 43rd St. (just west of 8th Ave in Manhattan), Studio B

Cost: Pay-What-You-Can (Suggested $10 - 250 for the ten-class series). Classes are always free for high school students and financial assistance is also available for those who need it. See below for more information.
